Obligatory (But Heartfelt) Goodbye Message

As I made my way to
class tonight, I had the feeling that something was distinctly off. I
figured it had something to do with the fact that I've been going to the
other dojo more often this summer, possibly compounded by the fact that
everything seemed somewhat off because I had just finished watching
Pan's Labyrinth. I threw my gi
on, made my way onto the mat, and marveled at the lack of other students
as I began stretching. It wasn't until about 9:00, when I was expecting
class to start, that I realized that I had gone to the wrong dojo at the
wrong time. And so, I managed to miss my last class in NYC.
While I must admit I am pleased with my progress toward my goal of
becoming a bumbling academic, I am certainly sad to lose even a single
opportunity to practice with this wonderful group of people. I've
learned a lot from all of you, instructors and students alike. Of
course, I am not going far, and I have plenty of excuses to come
down to this area, so I will more than likely be visiting fairly often.
There is also a good chance that I will be doing my dissertation
fieldwork in NYC, so I will probably be back in about three years.
Best,
Dan
